Building a Safety Culture: 2022 Goals

As an employee-centered company, we are committed to our people. One way we live out our commitment is by making safety our top priority. If we are first committed to caring for our teammates and their safety, then we can create delicious food that goes on menus around the country.

2022 Safety Goals

Improving Ergonomics: Whether entering inventory at a desk or packing cases of food, the jobs we do require many of the muscles in our bodies to be engaged while we work. One of our goals for the year is to improve ergonomics, this means eliminate discomfort and the risk of strains and injuries at work. Our team will be studying how our bodies move or are positioned while we do our jobs. For example, a station that requires heavy lifting might be have improved ergonomics and reduce the chance of strain if we add a lift to the area.

Eliminate Slip, Trip and Fall Hazards: Slips, trips and falls seem like no big deal, they happen at the park, at home and can happen in the workplace, but they can cause serious injury and are preventable. According to OSHA, slips, trips and falls cause about 700 deaths per year. Our goal for 2022 is to spend time identifying conditions or areas that have the potential of causing someone to slip or fall. It’s not just on our production floors, even office areas and our parking lots will be examined for ice risks or tripping areas. Education will be a key portion of this goal as we empower teammates to speak up about potential hazards. We also will be furthering our safety culture by encouraging each other to take our time and be aware of the floor we are walking on, no matter how busy we may be.
