5 Smart Ways to Use AI Tools In Your Restaurant

Looking for tools to help you focus on the guest experience? Use AI as a time-saver so that you can put your energy into your guests. Here's how.

While we admit, the power of AI seems unknown and scary, there are safe ways to use the platforms that can make your day easier. We wouldn't recommend putting any trade secrets, proprietary info or personal teammate info on the platforms.

Use ChatGPT to Tackle Reviews

Nasty reviews are no fun at all and often get owners heated, which makes it hard to write a constructive response. While positive Yelp reviews are heartening to read, they still require a reply, which requires time. Save time, sign up for a free ChatGPT account and put the reviews to AI. Paste the review in the chat and ask the language model to craft a response with the desired tone and goal you are going for. Review it, copy it, make small tweaks and post it. Done!

Write Mouth-Watering Menu Descriptions

Crafting a dish might be your strength, but if writing a menu description or Instagram caption about a dish that makes it sound truly tantalizing is tough, no worries. Put the ingredients into ChatGPT and allow the tool to help you craft a description, asking it to use trending phrase that will connect with diners of specific categories or generations.

Use it as a Brainstorm Buddy

Need a sounding board? Or to generate a list of many sauce ideas in an instant? Let ChatGPT be your brainstorming teammate. We recently asked the tool for untraditional ideas for sauces with grilled chicken. It spat out 10 ideas faster than we could type. From there, we could take that list and research each one. Two of the ideas on the list ended up spurring new ideas for us that we could then play with in our R&D kitchen.

Easily Sent Team Communications

Writing emails to your team that they will actually read? It’s hard and it takes up a lot of time. Draft up what your trying to say, then pass it to ChatGPT. Ask it to take your words and make the email shorter, more effective or even fun. Then your email writing or meeting planning is done! And you still have the brain energy to talk to customers.

Pump Out Photos

Need a quick picture for social media, an advertisement space or a flyer to promote an event at your restaurant? Use Dall-E or another AI photo generator to create an image. At just a couple of cents per image, it’s for sure cheaper and quicker than hiring a professional, if you need a generic photo. If you have a photo of a dish already that you took on your phone, but the quality isn’t great, you can upload it to this tool and the AI will generate four new options that aim to be higher quality. The picture above was generated when we asked for an image of a taco bowl with corn.

Costing Made Simple

If you hate math, have no fear! Let ChatGPT help you with costing. Give the tool a list of all of your ingredients and the price per unit, give it your recipe and let it do the rest. Or have it help you build a costing tool in Excel that can easily calculate once you input the data.

How else can AI make your day smoother and let you spend more time with your customers or team? We’d love to hear!
